Collagen Bio-Stimulators

rejuvenate your skin THROUGH THE NATURAL
ENHANCEMENT OF COLLAGEN PRODUCTION

introduction

Collagen Biostimulator Injections

  • Collagen Biostimulators are injectable aesthetic treatments that are administered into the deep, dermal layer of the skin. These treatments activate the skin’s natural production of vital proteins essential for a healthy skin structure — including collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.
  • By stimulating our skin’s own collagen production, it encourages skin remodeling from the inside out to effectively replenish facial volume and refine skin texture. Common aging concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, loss of volume, skin laxity, thinning skin are also effectively addressed through this approach.

The Role of Collagen In Our Skin

Collagen 101: The Secret Protein Behind Youthful Skin

Skin aging is an inevitable fact of life; and everyone will encounter it at some point.
Younger Skin
Aging Skin
Around the age of 20, our skin begins to produce 1% less collagen every year. This causes the skin to become thinner and more fragile as we get older.
With diminishing collagen levels, the skin loses its elasticity and firmness, resulting in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging.
Remember, it's never too early to start investing in your skin’s health! Collagen Biostimulators can serve as preventative measures against premature aging or as corrective solutions to address visible signs of aging.

Benefits of Collagen Biostimulators

Collagen Biostimulators: Benefits Beyond Volume

Collagen Biostimulators are primarily used to treat various age-related changes. When administered to the deep dermis layer (where our skin’s collagen levels exist), it naturally stimulates our skin to produce more collagen to effectively:
• Smooth fine lines and wrinkles
• Enhance skin firmness to counteract sagging or laxity
• Restore facial volume that has depleted due to age
• Boost the skin’s natural resilience and elasticity
• Improve uneven skin texture and the overall complexion
Additionally, collagen biostimulators can be used as a preventative anti-aging treatment to slow down the aging process.

FAQ

frequently asked questions

Are collagen biostimulator injectables safe?

Collagen Biostimulators are safe for the general population when administered by qualified and experienced aesthetic doctors. These injectable treatments are designed to work in tandem with your body’s natural processes to stimulate collagen production, aiding in skin rejuvenation.

Nonetheless, it is important to have a thorough consultation with a doctor to assess your suitability for the treatment. It is also important to note that like other injectable treatments, safety has not been established in patients who are pregnant, lactating or breastfeeding.

Collagen Biostimulators are frequently confused with dermal fillers. However, it’s important to recognise that these two treatments have distinct purposes and work through separate mechanisms:

  • Dermal fillers are primarily used to add volume and fill in specific areas of the age for facial contouring, or anti-aging purposes

  • Collagen biostimulators, on the other hand, aim to stimulate your skin’s natural collagen production over time to naturally reverse age-related changes (e.g. fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin)

The ideal age to start collagen biostimulator injectables is in the early 30s as this is generally when the natural decline in collagen production begins. Although visible signs of aging might not have shown up yet, starting treatment at this stage can effectively slow down the aging process.

Ultimately, the ideal age can also vary based on individual factors, such as skin condition and desired outcomes. Hence, consultation with an aesthetic doctor can help determine if you are a suitable candidate for collagen biostimulator treatments.

Collagen Biostimulator injections deliver visible results gradually, as the treatment stimulates your skin’s collagen production over time. Visible improvements in your skin quality usually becomes noticeable a few weeks after the treatment, with optimal results often seen within 2 months as the depleted collagen gradually rebuilds.

Patience is key here! The results are gradual, but are often more long-lasting and provides natural-looking enhancements.

Duration of results can vary amongst the type of collagen biostimulator used. Generally, the effects can last anywhere around 2 years. Additionally, maintenance sessions are advisable to sustain the benefits of collagen biostimulators over the long-term. Our aesthetic doctor will be able to provide guidance on the expected longevity during the pre-treatment consultation.

The downtime of collagen biostimulators is minimal, and many individuals are able to resume their daily activities after the treatment. As with other injectable treatments, side effects like mild redness, swelling, or bruising on the injection site may occur. These effects are temporary and will subside within a few hours.

Step 2

Our aesthetic doctor will begin the procedure with the first injection using an ultra-fine needle, before taking a pause to allow the lidocaine in Restylane® Kysse to further numb the lip area.

Step 3

The procedure then continues until the treated area shows the desired results. Thereafter, the injected area will be massaged to ensure that the filler gel is distributed evenly across the lips for natural results.

Restylane Kysse Frequently Asked Questions
Am I an ideal candidate for Restylane® Kysse Lip Fillers?

Patients should not use Kysse lip filler if they:

  • Have a history of severe allergic reactions.

  • Have had a previous allergic reaction to hyaluronic acid fillers.

  • Are allergic to anesthetics, like lidocaine.

While both of these are hyaluronic acid lip fillers, they have slightly different formulas. Restylane® Kysse adds volume and enhances your existing lip shape and symmetry to create smooth, natural-looking lips. It can also treat smoker’s lines, or commonly known as wrinkles around the mouth.

Juvederm, on the other hand, is a great option for patients who are looking for a more voluminous look. When deciding on which lip filler, it depends on the look you want to achieve.

Due to the different formulations, Restylane® Kysse has a unique structure that lasts longer than other fillers. Most dermal lip fillers last around 9 months, however you can expect results lasting up to 12 months with Restylane® Kysse.

The discomfort experienced during the treatment varies from person to person and depends on factors such as:

  • Sensitivity of the patient

  • Pain tolerance of the patient

  • Anxiety level of the patient

Restylane® Kysse comes with anesthetic inside the gel already, hence discomfort is at its minimum.

All lip fillers have some mild side effects. You may experience some slight swelling and bruising on the injected area, but these should go away within 7 days.

  • As with other lip fillers treatment, a cold compress may be applied to the injected area to reduce swelling.

  • Avoid touching the injected area for at least 6 hours so that you do not accidentally injure your skin while the area is numb. Thereafter, the treatment area can be gently washed with soap and water.

  • Minimise strenuous exercise and exposure to excess heat, sun, or UV rays for the first 24 hours. Exposure to these may cause temporary redness, swelling, or itching at the treated area.

Full aftercare instructions will also be provided after the treatment.

Acne

A commonly overlooked yet physically and psychologically scarring problem, acne is a long-drawn problem that commences at puberty and can drag on well into one’s 20s to 30s. Adult-onset acne is also common, commencing in one’s 20s to 30s and dragging on well beyond that. Caused mainly by accumulation of dead skin, bacterial infection and uncontrolled inflammation, acne is a rather well understood medical condition. Hormonal influences, genetic factors, and even proposed dietary influences are known to be the underlying drivers of acne in some too. Early intervention is the best solution – less acne translates to less scarring, saving you precious time and finances required in attempting to resurface those pesky scars later on.

Acne Treatments

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels consist of mild acids that, when applied to skin, promote controlled exfoliation of skin as well as inactivation of the sebaceous units responsible for breakouts.

Used as a complimentary form of treatment to existing topical therapy, chemical peels can quickly and effectively control most forms of acne.

3-5 sessions are typically required at 2 weekly intervals to bring acne under control, with subsequent sessions done every 4-6 weeks for maintenance.

Carbon Peel

Using a specialised laser and a black carbon-based ink on the face, sebaceous glands can be targeted, bacteria killed, and mild exfoliation performed.

Sessions done at 2-4 weekly intervals can help keep acne bay while also helping to lighten any post-inflammatory pigmentation left by the acne and even reduce pore size.

AGNES

For the larger, stubborn and recurrent acne, the use of a highly selective probe to deliver high radio-frequency energy into the sebaceous unit effectively and permanently inactivates the gland.

This more permanent solution to acne allows for effective management of recurrent acne without having to resort to oral medication such as oral isotretinoin.

Tattoo Removal
Tattoos, while easily placed, are much more complicated to erase. Newer methods of treatment are more reliable, and total time required for tattoo removal can be shortened to less than a year.

Tattoos, while easily placed, are much more complicated to erase. Existing therapies involve the use of nano-second Q-switched lasers, but treatments prove difficult with many requiring 2-3 years of repeated visits at 2-3 monthly intervals. Newer methods of treatment involve the use of newly developed pico-second lasers. These lasers, firing many times faster than conventional Q switched lasers, fracture pigments more effectively. In effect, treatments are more reliable, and total time required for tattoo removal can be shortened to less than a year.

Here at The Aesthetic Studio, we employ the use of the Lutronic Picoplus Pico-second laser for optimal tattoo removal; with 4 wavelengths of light at your disposal, removal of tattoos of varying colour and complexity just got easier.

With a high energy output, a wide range of precisely controllable fluence output and four wavelengths of light for increased versatility, the Picoplus Pico-second laser is optimised for tattoo removal and pigment management.

Depending on tattoo complexity, 5-10 sessions may be required at monthly intervals for optimal clearance.

Combination with ablative lasers may be advised to reduce post-laser blistering commonly associated with tattoo removal.
